Brandon Stark’s Daughters

by Evolett May 8, 2022 No Comments

This post examines the possibility of Dalla, queen to Mance Rayder, and her sister Val, the “wildling princess” being daughters of Ned’s late brother Brandon Stark. If so, they are of great importance to the narrative because in the event of an absence of suitable heirs to Winterfell, they (and baby Aemon) can be seen as possible propagators of the Stark line through female inheritance.

Robb Stark – Night’s Silver Wolf King

by Evolett March 29, 2022 No Comments

Could Robb Stark, brought back from death, turn out to be Night’s King or the leader of the Others? There are so many hints and leads to this idea, stories within stories that begin to make sense when applied to this hypothesis. We expect Jon Snow to return to the living. Why not Robb […]

Quirky Seasons: It’s always summer under the sea

by Evolett April 4, 2018 No Comments

Long Summers and Two Long Nights – Extremes of Sand and Snow. Long Nights and Long Winters? How about the reality of Long Summers and their devastating effects on the planet? Are magically induced extremes of Summer the underlying cause of seasonal irregularity in George Martin’s fantasy world? Have there been at least two instances […]

Quirky Seasons: Under the sea, men marry fishes

by Evolett March 21, 2018 No Comments

Fertility Themes, the ultimate Key to a Song of Ice and Fire The fertility of the earth is tied to the seasonal cycle, and the latter, we know, is highly irregular in George Martin’s fantasy world. Why the seasons are asynchronous remains an unsolved mystery within the story. Ice and Fire are extreme forms of […]

Three Heads has the Dragon 2 – Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things

by Evolett January 29, 2017 No Comments

Welcome to part II of the true significance of the three-headed dragon. In this follow-up, I share my insights on how slavery and the exploitation of the elder races facilitated the harvesting of desirable traits, discuss the pros and cons of recombining the genes of different species and look at how all this is relevant to […]

Three Heads has the Dragon 1 – The Elder Races

by Evolett October 6, 2016 1 Comment

Five books and six seasons down the line, we should realize that hatching and riding dragons are only a small part of a much larger scenario. I’m personally convinced that many clues within the narrative suggest some ancient cultures in G. Martin’s world practiced a form of primitive genetic engineering, usually disguised as dark magic […]

Patchface and the Mermaid’s Kiss Revisited

by Evolett May 1, 2016 No Comments

How did Patchface survive the shipwreck when all others on board drowned? In this updated post, I take a more comprehensive look at the smallfolk’s explanation for his survival regarding the mermaid that taught him to breathe in exchange for his seed. I believe a mermaid did intervene, but not the way we imagine it may […]

Frozen Fire and the Genetic Significance of Blue Winter Roses

by Evolett February 24, 2016 10 Comments

Several theorists have published analyses dedicated to the symbolism of blue winter roses over the years. While I subscribe to many of them (great stuff), most deal with their significance in respect of Lyanna’s presumed relationship with Rhaegar and by extension, her child Jon. I do not recall reading a theory dealing with their significance […]
